Every year, millions of high-performance GPUs leave the datacenter still fully functional. Not broken. Not obsolete in capability - only obsolete in the refresh cycle. About 95% of those enterprise boards are sold, palletized, and shipped into the offshore e-waste trade: toxic landfills and acid yards built to harvest gold, copper, and palladium - not to save compute.
